In the last post in our series on the coolest kits (from Cinci’s coolest kitting service), we showed you a rare model rocket that simulated a full scale launch. If that got you excited about kits that do more than just look pretty, you will love the next entry in the series: a ¾ scale replica of the historic Spirit of St. Louis. But this is much more than a model airplane; it really flies!
The original Spirit of St. Louis is a legendary piece of aviation history. It was the custom-built aircraft flown by Charles Lindbergh on his historic non-stop flight from New York to Paris. Now, Airdrome Aeroplanes of Missouri has created a kitplane, an airplane that pilots can build themselves, which perfectly mimics the original Spirit at ¾ the size. Kitplanes are already sort of the ultimate examples of incredible kits. It is one thing to build a model airplane, it is another to trust your life to it. But, this unique aircraft has been drawing a lot of positive buzz.
