How It Works
DID YOU KNOW...Americans store an estimated 65 million old desktop computers in their homes.– US EPA
We've made it easy to help the environment—and others—in just a few easy steps:HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
1. Find out if Reconnect will accept the item.In general, Reconnect accepts any brand of computer equipment in any condition from consumers and recycles it for free. We also accept just about anything that can be attached to a computer. Check our items we accept page for a complete list of what we do—and do not—accept.
2. Find a drop-off location.
Visit our Donation Locator page to find a Donation location. Computer equipment will be accepted at any of our 16 stores and 12 Attended Donation Centers throughout the Greater Cincinnati community.
Drop off the item.
As a general rule, consumers can just drop off the item at any participating Goodwill. However, some items may require extra preparation before you bring them in. For details, check our items we accept page.
3. Please note that donors are responsible for removing data from hard drives. Neither Ohio Valley Goodwill nor Dell is liable for data removal or protection.
4. Feel good about what you've done.
Your donated equipment has value—sometimes as a whole system, sometimes as parts, and sometimes as raw materials such as metals, plastics and glass. The proceeds from your donation are all returned to Goodwill and help to support Goodwill's important mission of putting people to work. You'll get a receipt for tax purposes, plus you'll be helping to protect the environment and benefit your community at the same time!
